Atopic Dermatitis (Atopic Eczema)
Atopic dermatitis is especially common in early childhood, up to 10% of all children are affected. There is a genetic predisposition to atopic dermatitis. The main symptoms are dry skin, intense itching and recurrent eczema attacks.A careful history and observation of the progress of the disease is important. By doing this, further influencing factors can be discovered and the individual therapy adapted. Apart from a good individual basic skin care and the avoidance of the triggering factors, there are various other treatment options.
Patients often suffer from other forms of atopic diseases like hay fever and asthma. In cases of small children, food allergies often play a role.
