Blocked Nose, Frequent Colds
A hidden allergy can underlie a constant nasal congestion or frequent colds. As in an infection an allergy can lead to mucosal irritation of the upper airways, only the trigger is different. Mainly allergies which manifest themselves especially during the winter months could be mistaken for a cold, for example allergies to house dust mites, tree pollen or pet dander.Aside from reduced allergen exposure, medications as well as an immunotherapy are taken into consideration. If needed an interdisciplinary consultation with an otolaryngologist to exclude other nasal disorders is a main focus of our practice.
