Patients whose health insurance includes the free choice of doctors may make an appointment without a doctor’s referral. What should I do if I am not sure if my problem is one which you evaluate and treat? Give us a call and ask directly. Email enquiries cannot be a substitute for a personal consultation and examination.
Why do you perform facial cosmetic surgery although you do not have the specialist title for plastic surgery? Cosmetic surgery, as any surgery, must be performed by an experienced specialist and is not limited to a specific title - for example also general surgeons, dermatologists and eye doctors perform cosmetic surgery. During the course of my residencies and fellowships as head and neck surgeon I was able to gain extensive experience in the field of facial plastic and cosmetic surgery and I have been performing such operations regularly since 1999.
How much does a cosmetic operation cost? The costs can vary considerably depending on how long the operation takes, the level of complexity and the type of anesthesia used, and can only be determined after personal consultation. You will receive an estimate to compare, the bill must be paid prior to surgery.
Does health insurance cover the costs of cosmetic surgery? Surgery done for pure cosmetic reasons is not covered by health insurance. Your health insurance will pay for reconstructive plastic surgery, in most cases after an accident, diseases involving tumors, or in cases of functional restrictions.
How long do I have to stay in the hospital for an operation and for how long will I be unfit for work? Most operations are ambulant or involve a short hospital stay for one to two days. Depending on your kind of work, calculate with a one to three week interruption of work.
