Eyelid Correction (Blepharoplasty)
Most eyelid surgery is done for cosmetic purposes, the visual field is seldom impaired by the eyelids. A thorough face analysis which takes the patient’s individual wishes and various surgical options into consideration is recommended. In the eyes special attention must be paid to symmetry, undetected droopy eyebrows and weakness of the upper eyelid muscles.Upper eyelid correction is a simple procedure whereby skin tissue and possibly some local fat tissue are removed. Lower blepharoplasties can also involve mobilization of fat tissue in the midface and resuspension of weak ligament structures. Surgery is done in the hospital under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis.
